Here are some glamorous shots of seven-months pregnant Rosamund Pike outside of Rockefeller Center yesterday. She stopped by Today to talk about Gone Girl, which opens next Friday. I’m looking forward to it! Even with The Batfleck. Anyway, I’ve been looking for a reason to write more about Rosamund, because I like her and I want to see her career get a big bump from this film. So far, the reviews are complimentary towards her. Like, Rosamund and Neil Patrick Harris are the strongest parts of this film. Some critics have mixed feelings about the Batfleck and director David Fincher. But the film has an 87% critics’ score at Rotten Tomatoes. So, overwhelmingly positive. Here’s a just-released clip of Amy and Nick’s meet-cute:

It’s what I keep saying… Rosamund was a brilliant casting choice but for the love of God, I really don’t think the Batfleck was right for Nick. Many of you disagree with me. That’s fine. It should have been James Marsden or Chris Pine. Someone boyish.

As for Rosamund, she gave an interesting interview this week about how lucky she is to be with a dude who is 18 years old than her. She’s 35 – her partner Robie Uniacke is 53. He’s also a recovering heroin addict, which I didn’t know. Here’s what Pike had to say about all of that:

On Robie: “I have a very clever partner who’s got a very astute mind and is very, very well read and articulate and ruthless about how something I do might play out on screen. My tendency is to identify with a character and imagine there is more on the page than there is. He’s quite good at putting a check on that.”

Her past relationships: In her twenties, Pike was engaged to Joe Wright, the director, who called off their wedding after the ‘save the date’ cards had been dispatched. Before that she was in a relationship with the actor Simon Woods, who turned to to be gay. But she denies she doesn’t have a good “radar for men”. She told The Times magazine: “I’m still proud to have been in a relationship with them. They’re all people I admire. Even if you get hurt by someone … they’re people I’m happy to have shared time with.”

Living with an older man: “The idea that you go for an older man because you think you’re less likely to be left by him, that’s the biggest pile of crap ever. I have the good fortune of living with a very fearless person, which has been wonderful. It checks me.”

[From The Telegraph]

Yeah, I think she’s in denial about her man-radar. I mean, I don’t know her current partner at all and if she says she’s happy, God bless. But it’s a little bit weird/funny that she ended up with the 18-years-older ex-heroin addict, because that doesn’t really say to me “wow, Rosamund really knows how to pick ‘em.” Oh, and I remember when Joe Wright canceled their wedding at the last minute – it was really awful for her! Yeah, she has bad man mojo.
